Metallic Exoskeleton

Zatea stared at her hand. Curling her fingers in and out, she marveled at her newfound ability to control the movement of each digit with perfect accuracy. She carefully took note of every sensation.

Motors rotated; they didn’t pull. Z saw, but couldn’t feel, her metallic exoskeleton. Nothing was warm, but neither was anything cold; movement was more readily accessible than temperature. Light and sound became the same sensation; not in a way that made sound visible or light audible, but in a way that translated noise and image into something Z could never have explained to her former body.
